NEW BISSAU
Master thesis named “New Bissau”: urban project for equipment and infrastructure of the Guinean capital. How Architecture can re-educate people, how Architecture can help in solving social and political problems?
The purpose is to interfere in the Bissau´s "skeleton", namely the infrastructure, so that its inhabitants can identify themselves with the city equipment. The architecture can not be just form, it is essential that it offers an experience of space. The space only makes sense when people go on it, so the architecture can play an important role, for example, to encourage interaction between people, and most important, to encourage interaction within each one, to educate people.
The discipline of architecture is very broad and complex. A space is never one thing; it is a place for many senses: to see, to touch to hear and even incompatible things happening in the same environment. It is important that buildings do not result only from their primary duties, but also take into consideration the city that surrounds them.
The new airport
Larger and with an infrastructure capable of meeting today's complex demands. The new airport explores in a unique gesture, concepts such as "movement", "dynamic" and "lightness", creating a new building with a stronger expression and attitude.
Civic and Business Center
Bissau deserves more organized and planned spaces and the transformation of the Bandim market in the CBD, an area full of life with green spaces, good ventilation and lighting, in order to accommodate not only the basic services but also to create support services for the big enterprises.

Bissau Art Centre
In a country with a very rich and diverse culture, the existence and creation of a unique space, the "CAB", is urgent. It is a contemporary architectural space, for the presentation of cultural events, which show dignity and pride.
Bissau Downtown
Requalification of Bissau downtown, the city historical area (Old Bissau), transformation and rehabilitation of some structures, including the fortress of Amura, the headquarters of the navy, the coastal road and the port of Pindjiguiti;
Sports Center
The creation of a sports centre in “Alto Bandim”, not only to promote sport for all ages, but also to discover new talents for the high competition and to train coaches as well.
We hope to build a "new Bissau", with spaces where people can live in harmony, where people can recover and foster a Guinean spirit, and all the forgotten memories. It is important not to lose our heritage. This is the place we want to build.
